Changes in Ministries

 In Pastor's Notes-Fr. Ritche

Friends,

Last week, I shared with you that Leah Harris, Pastoral Associate for Pastoral Care and Spirituality has decided to move on from Holy Spirit to assume a new ministry at Santa Clara University.  Leah has worked here for 13 years and did a tremendous job, and she will surely be missed. We congratulate her and pray for her on this new opportunity.

With Leah’s resignation, I must carefully re-organize and distribute her ministry to our current staff members.  I realize that their plates are already full and so, I am grateful for their willingness to take on more responsibilities.

Effective immediately, in addition to being the Associate Pastor and Director of Liturgy, Fr. Edgar will oversee the pastoral care ministry.  He and I will make sure that care for the sick, homebound, hospitalized, the grieving, and the dying are met.  We will work with the committees that have already been in place so we can pastorally continue to meet the needs of our community.

Merry Reardon, currently our Director of Faith Formation and Community Building Coordinator, will also take on additional roles.  She will be responsible for the Spirituality Pillar of our parish; including Growing Our Friendship with Jesus, Men and Women’s Faith, and other faith formation programs, ministry to our seniors, and the prayer shawl ministry.

Annie Bui-Kellett, will continue to look at community engagement along with parish communications that includes our website and e-bulletin.

Melissa Brush’s title will change to Admin to Ministries.  She will be working collaboratively to assist Liturgy, Pastoral Care, Faith Formation, Community Building, Youth Ministry, Confirmation Program, and Social Ministry.   Melissa will also ensure that our sacramental records are up to date.

With these changes, I’d like to thank you for your patience and understanding.  I’d like to assure you that our priority is to serve and meet the needs of our Parish.  If you have any questions and/or recommendations, I am very happy to listen to you.

Finally, I’d like to encourage you to join us in our Parish Renewal Initiative.  This program is very important as we make these changes and re-organize our parish staff’s responsibilities.  Your insights will surely strengthen the Parish Staff and enable us to serve you more efficiently and effectively.

We ask the Holy Spirit to continue to guide us as we continue our pilgrim way.  Together in Christ, we can do this.
