Prayer Shawls Ministry

About the Ministry:

Compassion and the love of knitting or crochet have been combined into a prayerful ministry and spiritual practice which reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace, as well as in celebration and joy. Many blessings are prayed into every prayer shawl. The shawl maker begins with prayers and blessings for the recipient. The intentions are continued throughout the creation of the shawl. Upon completion, a final blessing is offered by our priest before the shawl is wrapped for giving.

Shawls can be used for: undergoing medical procedures; comfort after a loss and bereavement; during times of stress; prayer or meditation; birthing, nursing a baby; bridal shower or wedding gift; during an illness and recovery; ministering to others.

Even in Summer, our parish shawl makers are still hard at work. If you know of someone who would benefit from the prayerful “hug” that a shawl can provide or you would like to join this faithful group of handicrafters, contact Sandy Palodichuk at 408-813-5798. Meetings currently on Zoom on the third Monday of each month at 10:00am.

Tangible Signs of Love and Prayer

Sometimes you may not able to have a prayer shawl with you.  The Prayer Shawl Makers offer this pocket/purse size option instead.

The little “shawls” are just the right size, approximately 2”x3”.  Perfect for mailing to someone in need of comfort to remind them of the love and prayers that it contains.

Holy Spirit parishioners, please contact Ministry Chair Sandy Palodichuk at 408-813-5798
