HSS Has a New Principal!

 In Pastor's Notes-Fr. Ritche

For the past several weeks we have been searching for the future leader of our school. I partnered with our diocesan Department of Education to ensure that we choose the right person to lead our school community.

I am thrilled to announce that Mrs. Sally Douthit has accepted the invitation to serve as principal for the 2022-2023 school year at Holy Spirit School, and I hope that you will join me in welcoming her into our Holy Spirit community. Mrs. Douthit is a passionate educator who joins us with over a decade of Catholic school leadership experience. Most recently, she has served as principal at St. Christopher School in San Jose. Prior to that, she led schools in the Diocese of Oakland and taught in both the Diocese of Oakland and the Diocese of San Jose.

The panel of teacher, parent, parish, and diocesan representatives, informed by community surveys and listening session data, engaged in the interview process. The panel unanimously agreed that Mrs. Douthit is the best candidate for the role, fulfilling the multiple desires of the community. The panel shared:

Not only does Mrs. Douthit have a proven history as an accomplished and successful principal, administrator, and teacher, but she also has the presence and dispositions that will serve the entire Holy Spirit community. She knows how to support the growth of our teachers, how to address the emotional, social, and academic learning of our children, and how to bring our community together.

The panel is very excited to support our new principal and is eager to start working with her.

Mrs. Douthit will assume the principal role on July 1, 2022. Over the coming weeks, she will work closely with Mr. Vohs, Mrs. Coulter, myself, and the Department of Catholic Schools in preparation for the transition. We are committed to work closely together to support and ensure continuity and stability throughout this transition.

I want to take this opportunity to thank Mr, Vohs for his three years of leadership, dedication, and commitment to Catholic education and to our school. He will surely be missed. I ask all of you to continue to keep Mr. Vohs and his family and this wonderful Holy Spirit School community in our prayers.

Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Sally Douthit to our parish community!
