Happy New Year!

 In Pastor's Notes-Fr. Ritche

The New Year is always greeted with a big bang – fireworks, parties, food, including the joyful revelry of the countdown of the ball dropping in New York’s Time Square, heralding a new beginning. A fresh start on the calendar – one that is filled with hope and potential.

As we bid adieu to the past year, this is also a time to express our gratitude for all the blessings we received. 2021 has been a difficult year for all of us, though we began to see a brighter light at the end of the tunnel. The pandemic continued to rage, but by the power of God we are finding ways to contain it from different fronts! Because of that we have a stronger belief that containment is possible, and our lives will continue to return to a “new normal.”

As we begin 2022, let us relive the experiences of the Holy Family of Joseph, Mary, and Jesus in our minds and in our hearts. Their story speaks of our own story. They talk to us about struggle, confusion, fear, faith, hope, peace, and joy. The Holy Family was not spared from the dilemmas and problems of life. Yet, they remained faith-filled and hope-filled. They stayed focused. They trusted in a God who is Emmanuel – God with us.

Although we enter the New Year still concerned about the pandemic, we must remain optimistic. We should not allow fear to paralyze us. Rather we must safely continue with our lives. We should continue to believe that God is in control of everything. Despite what is happening around the world, God has the final say. To believe that is to have hope in our God who loves and gives life.

In this New Year, let us continue to pray for one another, and for all the people around us. And in our prayers, let us always be mindful that The Holy Spirit continues to guide us and enflames our hearts with the fire of God’s love.

I wish you and your loved ones a very Happy, Healthy, and Peace-filled 2022!
