It is providential that Thanksgiving is observed the week when we end the Church’s calendar year with the Solemnity of Christ the King.  We are reminded this weekend of a God, who became flesh in Jesus Christ, a King who is “meek and humble of heart.”  The gospel story paints that meekness and humility as Jesus forgives the repentant thief with a promise: “Today you will be with me in paradise.”  What a gift that is! Thanksgiving is a time for us to celebrate our God, the harvest, and the other blessings of the past year.  After the unprecedented pandemic years, we can once again gather with family and friends to observe this beautiful holiday.  We certainly missed this gathering of family visits, roasting and carving the turkey and all that came with it.  The stories told, the games we played, and the laughter shared.  These are what make the Thanksgiving Holiday so special. This year, we are grateful for this opportunity to gather once again. Although we are still reminded to be careful, I hope you find this holiday a time to enjoy and to strengthen the bonds with family and friends.  I join all of you in prayer to thank God for all the blessings we have received.  I would also like to take this time to express my gratitude for your continued support and generosity to the parish.  From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU! I invite all of you to join us on Thursday, November 24 at 8:30am to celebrate the Eucharist, the great prayer of thanksgiving.  No matter how big or small the blessings received this past year, we say “Thank You” to our God whose love is everlasting!
