Celebrating the Spirit – Happy Feast Day!

 In Articles, Pastor's Notes, Pastor's Notes-Fr. Ritche

Our Parish joins the whole Church in celebrating the Solemnity of Pentecost, which also ends the season of Easter. Tradition has it that Pentecost is the birth of the Church when God sent the Spirit upon the disciples who were gathered in the upper room. That same Spirit gave them the wisdom, courage, life, and hope needed to go out to the ends of the earth and proclaim the good news of the Risen Lord.

This weekend is especially significant for us because we celebrate our Parish feast day. Every year, we are reminded of the gift of our parish and of the Spirit – a day of joy and gratitude. Empowered by the Spirit, we strive to be the Church God has intended.

2023 is an important year because we remember, celebrate, and give thanks for the gift of sixty wonderful years of faithful discipleship. It was 60 years ago when our community was founded. Since the very beginning we have listened to the call of the Risen Lord, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we have always been ready to be the hands, eyes, ears, mouths, feet and especially the heart of Jesus.

Our parish is known for always thinking “outside the box” because we are so attentive to the signs of the times and, prompted by the Spirit, we discern how to serve God’s people accordingly. We gather around the table of the Eucharist where we are nourished by God’s Word

and fed with the bread of life. At this table, we are continually transformed to be the Body of Christ. For sixty years, bathed in the waters of Baptism, we strive to be true to who we are as God’s beloved sons and daughters.

Our parish has come a long way and I thank all the pastors who have served our community. I also extend my gratitude to all the parish leaders who worked and continue to work hard to ensure that we are the missionary disciples of Christ. To all of you who continually give generously of your time, talent, and treasure, Thank You!

As we embark on our 60th year, we pray that the Holy Spirit continues to guide us. May we be strengthened in our mission to be the very presence of Christ to others. May we always breathe unto others the love and compassion that we have been gifted.

Happy Feast Day and 60th Anniversary to everyone!
