There are so many reasons to be joyful and grateful for this month.
Firstly, a heartfelt Mother’s Day greeting to all mothers. Thank you for everything you do. I find it providential that today we celebrate Good Shepherd Sunday. In your vocation as mothers, you have been an image of the Good Shepherd to all of us. Your love, care, devotion, understanding, support, and patience are but a few of the ways we continue to experience the presence of the Risen Lord in our lives. Thank you!
Secondly, we congratulate the sixty-nine newly confirmed. I am grateful to Row David and his team in forming these young men and women. To the parents and grandparents - thank you for allowing us to be part of this faith-filled journey. In his homily, Bishop Cantu challenged the young men and women to foster their friendship with the Risen Lord. Bishop reminded us that the gifts of the Spirit are given to us all to help in that relationship – to give courage in times of despair, patience in moments of distress, understanding in times of confusion, wisdom to discern the plan of God for us. It was truly a Spirit-filled celebration.
Thirdly, congratulations to our first communicants. This weekend, our parish celebrates First Eucharist. We are excited to have so many of our children partake of the Body and Blood for the very first time. Thank you to Merry Reardron and all the catechists who prepared the children for their First Eucharist. I invite everyone to include these children and their families in our prayers.
On behalf of Fr. Robert and the rest of the parish staff, I wish all mothers a Happy Mother’s Day and congratulate our newly confirmed and first communicants!
Easter Blessings to all,
Fr. Ritche
