Sacred Heart Community Service is a non-denominational, non-profit organization which provides integrated services onsite free of charge to all in need. The programs offered are in three main categories: Essential Services (food, clothing, housing, and utility assistance), Self Sufficiency (education, family support, and employment), and Policy and Organization (training low income volunteers to work together to address the needs of their community).
Holy Spirit Parish supports and volunteers for many of the programs at Sacred Heart. Below is a list of ongoing and current opportunities to serve.
Holy Spirit parishioners are continuing to volunteer to distribute Survival Sacks at Sacred Heart Community Service. We gather on the first and third Thursdays of the month to distribute Survival Sacks, organize supplies, make hygiene kits, and fill backpacks. Sacks are distributed to those who are homeless and living on the streets of San Jose, usually about 50 on each distribution day. We have the privilege of looking for the face of Christ in each of our clients.
Consider joining us on either January 4th or 18th. We meet at Sacred Heart at 8:45 a.m. and finish up about 10:45 a.m.
For questions, please contact Tom Burgei and Patty O’Neil at firstname.lastname@example.org.
School aged children and older are invited to join us for our next Saturday at Sacred Heart on Saturday, January 27th, 9:00 a.m. to Noon. We will help in the Food Pantry and Clothes Closet, and anywhere else we are needed to help Sacred Heart prepare to serve their customers in the week ahead.
Sign up below. School aged children under 13 must be accompanied by a parent. Service hours can be earned. Please contact Mischa Plesha at email@example.com with any questions. Hope to see you at The Heart!
