Prayer Shawl Ministry Updates

In Pastoral Care - Prayer Min.

Compassion and the love of knitting or crochet have been combined into a prayerful ministry and spiritual practice which reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace, as well as in celebration and joy. Many blessings are prayed into every prayer shawl. The shawl maker begins with prayers and blessings for the recipient. The intentions are continued throughout the creation of the shawl. Upon completion, a final blessing is offered by our priest before the shawl is wrapped for giving.

Shawls can be used for: undergoing medical procedures; comfort after a loss and bereavement; during times of stress; prayer or meditation; birthing, nursing a baby; bridal shower or wedding gift; during an illness and recovery; ministering to others.

A Prayer Shawl can bring comfort and healing to someone who is struggling. While confined to home in our current global health scare, our Parish shawl-makers are still hard at work, creating lovely, comforting shawls rich with prayers and blessings for those who need them.

Shawls are in stock now. If you know someone who is sick, grieving, preparing for surgery, expecting a baby, reaching advanced age, suffering from loneliness, anxiety or depression, or in need of encouragement and a “prayerful hug”, let us know! Contact Sandy Palodichuk, Ministry Chair, at 408-813-5798 to choose just the right color and size!

Next “Zoom meeting” is Monday, March 15 at 10am. Contact Sandy for details.
